Player Development


Player Development Programs will be offered in a variety of ways for the coming season.  This page will be updated on a regular basis to reflect the new development opportunities available.

 

 

The CDLA is thrilled to announce the return of its well established High Performance Camp

Starting in October athletes born between 2007 and 2012 will experience high intensity lacrosse training with a best in class coach lineup 

 

With this camp you will get 

- 40+ hours of floor time

- Practice Pinnie to keep

- 1.5 hours once a week until Christmas on Sundays times will be between 215pm and 515pm depending on group

- 1.5 hours twice a week in January and February ( one weeknight and Sunday)

- Minimum 4 instructors per floor time including a goalie coach

Coach Gary and Coach Al each bring more than two decades of experience helping local field and box lacrosse players develop at the club, provincial and national levels.

Over the last 15 years the two have led camps for organizations including, the Axemen, Hornets, Sabrecats and Rage as well as Calgary Field Lacrosse, Evolve Lacrosse, Diamond H and Playlax.

While they bring specific focuses to their coaching, they share a commitment to establishing a respect and understanding of lacrosse and look to share their love of the game.

Their primary goal is always to ensure every player leaves their camp as a better lacrosse player/teammate, ready to take on and excel at the next level.

Calgary Axemen Winter Camp

We are pleased and excited to announce details for our highly-successful and long-running Axemen Winter Lacrosse Camp.

Session 1: Oct. 13 - Dec. 18 - Click here to register

Both camps will be designed and overseen by Axemen Coaching Director Colin Risi.

2022 Axemen 16U A assistant coach Adam Barker and 2022 Axemen 12U A head coach Geoff Thompson will run on-floor sessions.

Veteran Axemen coaches, board members and long-time volunteers Sean Ross and Ty Pilson (both of whom co-coached Novice 1 the last two seasons) will assist in running sessions.

The camps will focus on stick skills, proper offence, defence, transition and special teams, along with various scrimmages formats to put all their training and skill development to good use.

Calgary Hornets Winter Camp
 
Calgary Hornets will be holding our Fall Camp Sessions again this fall at Spray Lakes Family Sports Centre, Cochrane.   Dates are:    October 15 to December 17, 2022      Information is on our website (www.hornetslacrosse.com) regarding the groupings, location, dates and times.   Registration will OPEN SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2022.
 
Groupings:
  
6U-8U   --  1:45 pm - 2:45 pm;
10U-12U -  3:00 pm - 4:15 pm;
14U-16U -  4:15 pm - 5:30 pm;
 
The birth dates when registering are for the divisions your player played in the 2022 Spring Box Season.   (We are unable to adjust these birth dates in Ramp)  Players will register in the divisions associated to their birth date, but depending on numbers may be moved to the division they will be playing in 2023.   The birth dates that could be affected are:

2014 - Player played 8U in 2022 --  would be in the 10U Session;
2012 - Player played 10U in 2022 -- would be in the 12U Session;
2010 - Player played 12U in 2022 -- would be in the 14U Session;

Players born in 2006 (graduating 16U players) cannot register for these fall sessions.
